All RGT kennels need volunteers. Can YOU help?
The help needed ranges from skilled jobs such as nail clipping to sweeping up. To give you some idea, the "jobs" at our kennels are :- walking dogs on Sunday - feeding - grooming -cleaning out kennels - painting - repairing the buildings - grass trimming - FUND RAISING - repairing tack (collars and leads) - (we have a wonderful person who makes all our winter dog coats out of blankets - this saves heating and the need to buy them) - FUND RAISING by running events - home checking - delivering or collecting dogs. As you can see FUND RAISING is an essential element!!! Below are a few of the successful events that have been held to help raise money for the retired racers.
DINNER PARTY - Invite a few friends to dinner and ask for a donation.
WINE TASTING - Invite a local wine dealer to give an introduction to the world of wine and possibly donate a few bottles for the occasion.
RACE NIGHT - Hold a race night or plan an evening at the dogs.
QUIZ NIGHT- Always fun if you are not too seriousand usually repeated.
CAR BOOT SALE - These can be great money spinners if the quality of goods for sale is high - be careful the dealers don't snatch up all the best items before you start!
LUNCH MONEY - Take a sandwich to work and invite your collegues to do likewise. The money saved can be donated to the dogs.
KARAOKE - The old ideas often are the best. Ask your local pub to host a karaoke evening and charge people to take part.
SPONSORED WALK or SLIM - This can be a great way not only raise money but the particpants can get fit at the same time!
RAFFLE - These can be held at any time and anywhere - at picnics or meets n' greets as well as the Grand Xmas Draw - but not too many or the participants tend to stop donating!
TOMBOLA - This is more usual at the more formal meetings - but it is a raffle where either all ticket buyers win a prize or a cheaper version where say all tickets ending in a 5 or a 0 win a prize.
HAVE A GREAT TIME RAISING MONEY!!!!
